Benefits of the Steel Frame System:

  • The accurate steel frame system enables architectural and design flexibility that is cost efficient, sustainable, durable and safe with exceptional resistance to fire, corrosion and pests.
  • It lasts longer with minimal maintenance and an estimated 2% material waste. All products used can be fully recycled and is environmentally friendly.
  • It has a structural integrity that means it stays straight and true. All wall panels and trusses, including window and door openings are precision-cut and self-squaring, with pre-punched holes for services.
  • 70% faster than conventional building methods
  • 25% more cost effective
  • An approved building method that can be built up to 5 storeys and can be designed in any shape.
  • Human error can be virtually eliminated before any frames are produced. Accuracy and quality control is carefully monitored.

Engineering News

Ten years ago light steel frame building was seen in South Africa as a strange new building method that challenged the brick- and – mortar mindset of local contractors.

Well, perceptions and mindsets do change as new, exciting ideas are gradually proven as viable alternatives to accepted technologies and LSFB in South Africa is no exception.

LSFB is increasingly being used in multi-storey office and commercial buildings, where it is replacing heavy masonry curtain walls. The most recent example is the façade walls of the multi-billion Rand Mall of Africa, built in Midrand, Gauteng.

There has been an exponential growth in Southern Africa in the past two to three years in the awareness of light steel frame building as an environmentally friendly and sustainable building method.
